Disney On Ice 2018

Disney On Ice 2018

We have been taking the girls to Disney On Ice  now for about ten years and I also went when I was a child. I can still remember my first ever show!

So this year we are all so excited as it’s going to be Isabella’s first show and I just can’t wait to see her face. She is Minnie Mouse obsessed and sleeps with all her Minnie teddies every night.

She has her costume all ready and we have been watching Disney movies and doing some Disney activities to get in the magical mood. You can see our activities via our Instagram.

If you have never been to Disney On Ice then I can not recommend it enough. It’s become a family tradition for us and we look forward to it every year. It truly is such a magical experience and each year it just gets better.

We will share more photos after the show and reveal which character Isabella decided to go as, so please check back in a few days for a full show review.

If you would like to see the show too, it will be in Nottingham at the MotorPoint Arena for 5 nights (Wednesday 21st – Sunday 25th 2018) presenting “Dream Big”.

Each year Field Entertainment produce a different themed show. The show for 2018 is Dare to Dream.

Courage leads the way, cutting the icy stage for Disney’s most adventurous dreamers at Disney On Ice presents Dream Big.

For the first time in Europe, join fearless Moana and the greatest demigod that ever lived, Maui, on an action-packed voyage to restore the stolen heart of Te Fiti, live on ice! Get tangled up in Rapunzel’s hair-raising quest to see the floating lights. Travel to mountainous Arendelle with Anna, Elsa and Olaf in a dramatic retelling of the sisterly love that saved a kingdom. And discover the strength, bravery and kindness that inspired generation after generation with Jasmine, Ariel, Aurora, Belle and Cinderella. Plus, arrive early to join a special 90th birthday celebration in honour of Walt Disney’s ‘True Original,’ Mickey Mouse.

High-flying jumps, breath-taking skating and lovable Disney friends make Disney On Ice presents Dream Big an experience your family will never forget.

Bioglitter Pumpkin Play Dough ?✨?✨

Bioglitter Pumpkin Play Dough ?✨?✨

As you all know we are big Bioglitter fans so we had an amazing idea to add it to our Homemade Natural Pumpkin Playdough.

We had so much fun making this recipe and it was a bit of an experiment as we intended it to be a no cook recipe but it ended up needing to be cooked and needed some tweaking. So here it is….

Bioglitter Pumpkin Playdough Recipe

680g plaint flour

85g salt

1 1/2 tbs cream of tartar

1tbs vegetable oil

240mls boiling water

1 can pumpkin purée

lots of Bioglitter

2tbs pumpkin spice

Method

1. Mix all the dry ingredients together first ( I would add half the flour now and save half until you are cooking)

2. Add the pumpkin purée (I actually got this from a friend from America but I have checked and Tesco and Waitrose sell it too)

3. Add all the wet ingredients and mix

4. Start cooking it on the hob on a low heat (it will take time and lots of mixing) if after a while it has not thickened then add the remaining flour gradually and continue mixing until it forms a dough.

5. Empty out of the pot onto a board and when you can touch it begin kneading it. You can add your Bioglitter now or I let Isabella add it herself as she loves this part and then knead it until fully mixed in.

Enjoy !

Bioglitter is available from the following stockist and you can find out more about it in our other post and on www.brianclegg.co.uk

SculptaPalooza Game Review – Learning Resources

SculptaPalooza Game Review – Learning Resources

SculptaPalooza is such a fun board game from Learning Resources and what an amazing way to spend quality time together.

The objective is to guess the clues sculpted by the other players to score points and the first team to 20 wins!

You can play in teams of two or there is a two-three player game.

Inside the box,

Playfoam that never dries out, a sculpting mat, Clue cards, Tag Team Lightning Round cards in holders, Tokens to represent your team, a Scoreboard, a Die, a Timer and you also get 20 custom Clue cards which are great for involving younger children, as you can make them easier things to make.

How to play

1. Choose the order that your team will sculpt in (this order will stay the same throughout the game).

2. The first sculptor will roll the die to determine the category. If 1-5 is rolled the sculpture will draw a clue card. If the lightening symbol is rolled, the category is Tag Team Lightning Round and used it’s own card deck.

There are 5 categories and the Tag Team Lightening Round.

Straight up Sculpt

The Playfoam has to be kept on the mat whilst you sculpt your master piece.

Put it on your Face

The girls favourite! As it says you can put the foam on your face to help your teammates guess who or what you are. Sophie was a clown and used it to make a clown face whilst jumping around and acting silly. This was so funny!

Just Close Your Eyes

Scult your creation whilst keeping your eyes closed. Some seriously funny creations are made this way. Lots of laughing.

Playfoam Props

Get up and move, using your Playfoam as a prop to act out your clue.

Sculptors Choice

You can choose any category to play.

Tag Team Lightning Round

This is an all play round and there is 60 seconds to act out as many clues as possible. You can sculpt props, move around, or use the Playfoam on your body.

What we thought

The game was really easy to set up and we would say it is perfect for family games nights or for parties.

The instructions were simple and everybody picked it up quickly making it perfect for people who have never played before.

We played it as a family and the girls also played it at a sleepover.

They all described it as a “Great, fun game” and there was a lot of laughing involved. They loved being able to put it on their faces!

The girls said it was a bit like Pictionary or Charades but more fun.

This game encourages everyone to let their hair down and be really silly whilst making funny creations.

What I love

I love the colourful box it comes in and the fact that it’s a mess free game. The girls just love playfoam anyway so loved being able to sit playing with it during the game. Playfoam is an amazing sensory resource.

This is such a fantastic way to get your children interacting and away from TV screens, computers, tablets or phones. What more could you ask for.

I would recommend this game to anyone for a fun family night and I can see it being an amazing game to add to our Christmas Eve games night.

SculptaPalooza is available to buy from Learning Resources and Amazon, RRP £19.00

We hope you enjoyed his review, of you have any comments or questions please leave them in the comments section.

Thanks

Learning Resources – Geo Safari Jr – My First Microscope

Learning Resources – Geo Safari Jr – My First Microscope

Isabella started to show an interest in the world around her and by finding bugs , stones and flowers in the garden so when we were asked to review Geo Safari Jr – My First Microscope, it was just perfect.

The microscope is a working microscope that can magnify any small object – flat or dimensional by 8x it’s size. Helping young children view small details and get up close with nature.

It has two extra large easy focus eye pieces, a hand grip and a soft, rubberised casing, making it the prefect first microscope.

It has an LED light with an on/off switch which Isabella loved!

A specimen tray to place your objects on which is great for young children as it means they have two hands free and can keep the item still.

Isabella really enjoyed learning to turn the focusing knob up and down to adjust the focus and picked it up really quickly.

The microscope is light weight and easy to carry so Isabella decided to take it out to her mud kitchen to look closer at her Sunflowers and stones she was playing with.

We have used it inside and outside. The light function is amazing when it’s a bit dull and dark out and one evening we took a close up look at dinosaurs when it got a bit darker and you could really see all the details just like with a real microscope.

One thing I love about the microscope is that it’s so robust and everything is child sized. It’s the perfect way to introduce young children to science at an early age.

I can see Isabella continue to use and benefit from this. Her older sisters who are 12 & 13 years also really enjoyed using it.

‘It’s recommended for children aged 3+ years

The only thing is requires is 3 AAA batteries and some everyday objects. It comes fully assembled in the box and it’s both the box and the microscope are lovely bright colours, making it the perfect gift for Christmas or Birthdays.

Here are a few ideas of things you could look at with the microscope – seeds, shells, pine cones, flowers and feathers. You could also laminate some items like pollen, to make your very own slides. Slides are not required to use the microscope.

You can get your very own Geo Safari – My First Microscope from www.learningresources.co.uk, Argos, Hamleys, Wicked Uncle, and Amazon.

‘It’s RRP is £20

There are lots of other fantastic items available in the Geo Safari range to explore and introduce STEM learning too. You can check these out on the Learning Resources website.

Happy Exploring and thanks for reading

Learning Resources Playfoam Pals

Learning Resources Playfoam Pals

We were so excited to be sent this new collectable toy from Learning Resources called Playfoam Pals.

The girls are big Playfoam fans from when I was working and I used to buy lots of it and Isabella loves anything that involves a surprise.

What is Playfoam?

Playfoam is a non-toxic formula for safe sensory play.

Its mess free so it wont stick to your carpets, clothing or furniture although sparkle Playfoam may transfer colour stain to fabric and plastic but stains can be removed from tabletops with vegetable oil.

One of the best things about Playfoam is that it never dries out, even if you forget to put it away!

What do you get in you box?

Each box includes two mystery pods filled full of a different coloured Playfoam and hidden inside is a mystery Playfoam Pal.

You also get a collection sheet to identify and tick off which Pals you get.

Series 1 features 12 wild animals plus rare endangered golden critters. So you can have fun collecting them all.

What can you do with it?

Playfoam has endless creative learning opportunities.

They had so much fun opening up their pods to discover which pals they got and we were even lucky enough to get a rare golden penguin!

Isabella used her fine motor skills to mold the foam making different shapes. She just loved feeling it and all the girls found it very relaxing to just sit and play with it in their hands.

They all used their imaginations to create different models from cats to snakes.

Megan had a great idea to make a car from her Playfoam and Sophie used the pod to create an iglo for the penguin. They also made beds for their pals too.

The girls thought it was hilarious that you could take the heads off and swap the bodies to create different creatures and they also had a wedding!

Playfoam Pals are a great ideas for stocking fillers for christmas and they provide hours of fun.

In my opinion they are a bargain for they amount of entertainment they provide not to mention all the learning and sensory benifits. They are £6.99 for two pods and you can get them from all major toy stores, Amazon or the Learning Resources website.

‘They are recommended for ages 5 years and above although Isabella is 2 years and with supervision absolutely loves them. They do contain small parts so constant supervision would be required for under 5 years!

They are also the perfect size to be taken anywhere and I will definitley be packing them for outings, car journeys and plane trips.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and we hope you have fun.
